Trevor Jones - Trumpet

Trevor was born in Dudley and began playing the cornet in the local brass band. He became Principal Trumpet of Dudley Schools Symphony Orchestra and began freelance playing whilst still at school. After graduating from Birmingham University he became an Associate of The Royal College of Music and a Fellow of Trinity College, London. Trevor Jones

He has held a number of important posts in music education including, Visiting Lecturer in Brass at Wolverhampton University, Deputy Head of Staffordshire Performing Arts, Head of Sandwell Youth Music and Arts Service and is currently Head of Coventry Performing Arts.

As a performer Trevor has played with the English Symphony Orchestra, English Philharmonic Orhestra, the Melachrino Orchestra as well as a maintaining a busy freelance diary for many years including frequent concerto performances and the artistic leadership of the Holborne Brass Ensemble.

Throughout his career Trevor has maintained his links with brass bands and has performed with the Desford, Heart of England (formerly Jones and Crosland) and Black Dyke Bands. Whilst with Black Dyke he recorded two compact discs, performed alongside the London Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble at The Barbican and undertook a tour of Switzerland.

As a conductor, Trevor led Dudley Metropolitan Schools Brass Band to many successes .The Band broadcast many times on Radio 2, achieved the Outstanding Performance Award at the National Festival of Music for Youth, appeared at the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall, appeared on Blue Peter and performed in the presence of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Archbishop of Canterbury and HRH Queen Elizabeth. In recent years he has also conducted a number of adult bands and achieved notable success with the Birmingham-based Sovereign Brass

Trevor is regularly invited to Belgium to conduct Brass Band Panta Rhei from Ghent and has supported them in their many contest successes both in Belgium and the United Kingdom.
